SUMMARY:EclipseAlert!
DESCRIPTION:🌑✨ Eclipse Alert: April 8\, 2024! ✨🌑 \nMark your calendars because on April 8\, 2024\, a spectacular celestial event is set to grace the skies: a total solar eclipse! This breathtaking phenomenon occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun\, temporarily obscuring the Sun’s light and casting a shadow on our planet. \nDuring a total solar eclipse\, the sky darkens dramatically as the Moon completely covers the Sun\, revealing the Sun’s corona – its outer atmosphere – in a dazzling display of light and shadow. Observers within the path of totality\, where the eclipse is visible in its full glory\, will experience a surreal twilight-like atmosphere as day turns to night for a few precious moments. \nThe path of totality for this eclipse will stretch across North America\, providing millions of people with the opportunity to witness this awe-inspiring event. Cities such as Dallas\, Indianapolis\, Cleveland\, Buffalo\, and Montreal will fall within the path\, offering prime viewing locations for eager eclipse chasers. \nFor those outside the path of totality\, a partial solar eclipse will still be visible\, offering a mesmerizing sight as the Moon partially covers the Sun. \nAs with any solar event\, it’s crucial to observe safety precautions when viewing the eclipse. Never look directly at the Sun without proper eye protection\, such as eclipse glasses or solar filters\, to prevent eye damage. \nSo\, grab your eclipse glasses\, set up your telescopes\, and prepare for a celestial spectacle like no other on April 8\, 2024! Whether you’re in the path of totality or witnessing a partial eclipse\, it’s sure to be an unforgettable experience that reminds us of the beauty and wonder of our universe. ✨ \n***Glasses available at the store . SUMMARY:Author Tonya Shevenell to autograph her latest children’s book\, "Hop Onward Rabbit Rabbit: A New England Cottontail’s Journey."
DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to welcome Tonya Shevenell back to the store\, presenting her latest book titled “Hop Onward Rabbit Rabbit: A New England Cottontail’s Journey.” Both this new release and her initial work\, “The Maine Birthday Book\,” boast captivating writing and delightful illustrations. Make sure to add her new book to your Easter collection—it’s a perfect addition! \nHop Onward Rabbit Rabbit: A New England Cottontail’s Journey was born from Shevenell’s unlikely summer of observing Maine state endangered cottontails in 2020. “I learned about them\, from them\,” Shevenell says\, “and by the end of the summer\, I wanted to help tell their story.” \nThe odds are stacked against New England cottontails. They require the dense cover of thickets found in young forest and shrublands to survive. Their worldwide range is New England and Eastern NY\, but the pockets of suitable habitat are fragmented\, and they have a long list of natural predators. Biologists estimate there are around 300 New England cottontails in Maine\, and even less in New Hampshire. York County is home to some of the Maine rabbits. \n\n\n\nShevenell has once again collaborated with watercolor artist Laura Winslow\, the illustrator of her initial work\, “The Maine Birthday Book.” Together\, they narrate the tale of a solitary New England cottontail in search of companionship. Travelling through diverse habitats and experiencing the changing seasons in Maine\, the rabbit encounters unusual animals\, unexpected allies\, and eventually\, a steadfast friend. The book not only entertains but also educates\, with end pages providing information about all the species encountered during the rabbit’s journey. It includes photos and facts about the real rabbits that inspired the story. \nJoin Tonya Shevenell for a book signing event featuring both of her children’s books at Village Toy Funatic\, 232 Main Street in Ogunquit\, on Saturday\, March 9th\, from 1:00-2:30 pm. To learn more or pre-order your signed books\, contact Village Toy Funatic at 207-646-7728. \n \n

DESCRIPTION:Join us on Sunday August 6th from 4-7 at Mainestreet for  the book launch of William Dameron’s newest book called “The Way Life Should Be.” It will be an exciting evening with William Dameron\, author of  The New York Times Editors’ Choice\, The Lie for a celebration and launch of his debut novel\, The Way Life Should Be. He will be in conversation with special guests\, New York Times best-selling author Augusten Burroughs and literary agent\, Christopher Schelling. \nAll of William Dameron books will be available for purchase from the  Village Toy Funatic and cocktails for purchase from Mainestreet! \nWilliam Dameron is an award-winning blogger\, memoirist\, essayist\, and author of The Lie\, a New York Times Editors’ Choice. His work has appeared in the New York Times\, Times (UK)\, Telegraph\, Boston Globe\, Washington Post\, Salon\, HuffPost\, Oprah Daily\, Saranac Review\, Literary Hub\, Hippocampus Magazine\, and in the book Fashionably Late: Gay\, Bi & Trans Men Who Came Out Later in Life. \nNow\, in his fictional debut\, THE WAY LIFE SHOULD BE (Little A\, August 6\, 2023) Dameron tells the warm\, funny\, and unforgettable story of two families thrust together in closer-than-close quarters at their family cottage on the southern coast of Maine. As husbands Thomas and Matt build a new life for themselves after coming out and embarking on a second-chance marriage\, their easy way of life—the way life should be—is upended when their three nearly adult children\, each fleeing personal crises of their own―descend on their fathers’ bliss. Soon after\, Matt’s aging parents arrive\, along with his lonely sister and her thirsty influencer son\, “ConMan.” \nAn anticipated peaceful summer in Matt and Thomas’s two-bedroom getaway quickly becomes crowded as they make room for their family\, its past\, and all its drama. During an unintentional family reunion\, old lives\, broken and in need of repair\, are about to converge with the new. Over the course of an unforgettable summer\, two fathers and their children will break apart and come together to understand what life still can be. Pain\, anger\, flaws and all\, they’re determined to forge a loving way forward. \nTHE WAY LIFE SHOULD BE is a big contemporary family drama set in a small space that sizzles with tensions and love and the messiness in between. \nThis event is open to the public.  If you can’t make it\, feel free to stop at the Village Toy Funatic or call the store to pre-order the book.  We will get your information and make sure William signs the book for you.  Pre-orders will be taken up until 3pm on Sunday August 6th.

Her new book is a perfect edition to your Easter book collection! \nShevenell teamed up again with watercolor artist Laura Winslow\, illustrator of her first book called The Maine Birthday Book\, to tell the story of a lonely New England cottontail looking for other rabbits. On a journey through different habitats and changing seasons in Maine\, the rabbit meets unusual animals\, unlikely allies and a good friend. The book includes end pages with information about all the species along rabbit’s journey and features photos and facts about the real rabbits that inspired the book.\nTonya Shevenell will be signing both of her children’s books at Village Toy Funatic\, 232 Main Street in Ogunquit\, on Saturday\, March 18th from 1-3 pm. For more information or to pre-order your signed books call the Village Toy Funatic at 207-646-7728
