We are a whimsical mix of unique and traditional toys, games, books for all ages, as well as the “hottest” trends on the market. We take pride in offering a hand-picked selection, sure to inspire the young and young-at-heart alike. We have been in our cozy space on Main Street in Ogunquit for 34 years. Our vision is a community-minded shop for the entire family. The Village Toy Funatic (previously known as Animal Instinct) is the go to spot when visiting this beautiful seacoast location. We specialize in bringing delight and joy to local families and families from all around the world.
We stock such timeless treasures as Lego, Papo, Sesame Street, Ravensburger White Mountain Puzzles, Green Toys, Fat Brain Toys, Melissa & Doug, Douglas Cuddle Toys, Mary Meyer plush and a long list of favorites and new hot trends. Our book selection includes current NY Times best sellers, classic picture books as well as books on diversity, Maine, series books including Dog Man and Harry Potter, holiday books and books for toddlers. Need a book for the beach? We have a vibrant Adult book section too. If we don’t have it we can get it! Just ask!
With our focus on children’s play, educational toys, and related products, you will find within our category selections, the best educationally oriented, skill building products including STEM-focused items from both large and small companies. Having said that, we also have all the fun and cool toys your kids want!
Our Sister Store
The Beach Funatic is our sister store located in York Beach Maine. The Beach Funatic is a specialty toy shop located on the beach with a whimsical mix of beach supplies, kites, toys, games, books, and gifts. Open from Mid May until Mid October, it is a must stop for anyone visiting the area.
Our retail manager Lisa, manages both locations with the help of experienced managers in each store. Lisa brings over 30 years of experience in the specialty toy business. With respect for the past, Lisa has her eyes on the future. Both stores will make your heart sing as you enter, like seeing an old friend. With the soul of an old-fashion toy store and a youthful, lively spirit, there is an energy not found in any other store!
Creating memories is our thing! Both stores have a vibrant busy event schedule. Visit the event calendar to see what is happening next. Events range from LEGO Build-Offs, book signings, visits with the Center for Wildlife, Arts and Crafts camps and much more!
We offer classic neighborhood customer services as well! Our toy experts are ready to help you on the phone or in the store. Complimentary gift wrapping is available all year. Call Ahead and we’ll have it waiting. Special requests are always welcome
